Henri has several years of field work experience, conducting herpetofauna inventories at several sites throughout Madagascar. These include a distribution study of the Madagascan big-headed turtle with Durrell Madagascar in the northwest, as well as working with Wildlife Conservation Society in Makira Natural Park in the northeast. He has also assisted on a behavioral ecology study of Milne-Edwards’s sifaka in Ranomafana National Park.

Henri completed an MSc II in the Department of Zoology and Animal Biodiversity at the University of Antananarivo in 2023.

What draws you to a career in wildlife conservation?

I was drawn to a career in wildlife conservation because I love animals and nature.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by all of the incredible amphibians and reptiles in Madagascar.

Is there a book has influenced you or made a strong impression?

My favorite book is the Field Guide to the Amphibians and Reptiles of Madagascar by Drs. Frank Glaw and Miguel Vences.

What is your favorite food?

Eels and pork

What is your favorite movie?

Prison Break

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would like to travel to the United States.

Besides lemurs, what is one of your favorite animals, and why?

I love all herpetofauna and think they are under appreciated!

Why do you care about Madagascar and its wildlife?

Because the majority of Madagascar’s wildlife only exists here, and we need to make sure conservation efforts include all species, like amphibians and reptiles.
